How To Get To Koh Lipe
BOOK A FLIGHT, BUS, OR TAXI
We can help organize flights, international and domestic as well as taxi pick-up to and from the airport. The nearest town to us with an airport as well as a train station is Trang or HatYai.
FERRY TO LIPE
We advise you to avoid the touts at the piers and mini-bus operators as well as ones that bombard
your car, they have been known to provide false or misleading information.
Ferry schedules are subject to change, so please keep checking
for updates to the schedule. You can purchase tickets directly from the port office or Pakbara Travel, we will gladly organize your return tickets
FERRY SCHEDULE CAN BE FOUND HERE
KOH LIPE
The Chao Ley community on Ko Lipe are independent from the
ferry operators. There is no pier on Ko Lipe you will have to pay
them a small fee of usually around 50baht for them to ferry you in their
Longtail boats to the island. Many of the resorts have their own transportation, be as specific as possible as to your resort name so that you will be taken to the appropriate beach.
IMPORTANT!! Speedboats are now running from PakBarra. For your safety, please only go with licensed operators and make sure that life jackets are accessible. We will not support speedboats that overcrowd and are not safe. Use them at your own discretion.
PAK BARRA
Pak
Barra is best reached by mini-bus from HatYai though you could come
via Trang if traveling from Phuket or Krabi. Both have airports and a train
station from Bangkok and Malaysia.
Pak Barra is a very sleepy town with limited guesthouses and very few
restaurants or bars, so if you do not wish to stay there you should plan
so that your taxi arrives with plenty of time to spare for the boats.
The boats are between 10am and 2pm. Check the Schedule
HAT YAI
Hat Yai is the
closest city to us and where you will need to get a taxi/mini-bus to
Pak Barra where you will catch the boat to Koh Lipe.
There are many hotels a market and restaurants. If you would rather
not stay the night in Hat Yai, you should plan your arrival into Hat
Yai as early in the morning as possible in order to catch a Taxi or
mini-bus to Pak Barra.
We can arrange taxi or mini-bus pick-up from the airport or your hotel.
Wait to buy
ferry tickets from the pier in Pak Barra rather than from touts in Hat Yai or from the mini-bus operator. The
taxi journey is about 2 1⁄2 hours, by mini-bus it's slightly longer.It
should cost about 200 baht by taxi to get to HatYai city center
should you like to stay there. HatYai has great markets, shopping,
hospital, internet, and some fantastic restaurants like The
Swan.
There is plenty of accommodation. We recommend staying at the King's
Hotel, or contact davistour@hotmail.com
for more accommodation.
Attention: Hat Yai Minibus Scam
We have received a lot of complaints about the Official Airport Minibus service to the Hat Yai Minibus station. If passengers ask to be taken to the minibus station for 'Pak Barra' they are often taken to a travel shop near the train station, where passengers are forced to buy an overpriced combined bus + boat ticket. The real minibus station has over a 100 white vans departing in various directions, it is located outside the city center. If you are not taken to the real minibus station we recommend you refuse to exit the minibus and demand to be taken to the real minibus station. We kindly ask Thai nationals to file a complaint as previous complaints from foreigners have resulted in nothing.
